New Buffalo City Manager Voted Out By Council

Tensions ran high at a more than five hour long New Buffalo City Council meeting this week to discuss the fate of Rusty Geisler, who was voted out of his city manager position. Our news gathering partners at NewsCenter 16 report Geisler was placed on paid leave earlier this month pending Tuesday's discussion. Recent concerns over his qualifications and certain complaints from residents put his employment status into question. Dozens of residents spoke in favor of Geisler.

Those against were in the minority. Geisler, a former New Buffalo mayor, council member, and most recently city manager, was given an opportunity to speak but chose not to. A vote of 3-2 removed him from his job.
