NRC Sends Letter To Palisades

On the heels of a scathing report concerning the safety culture at the Palisades nuclear plant, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has isseud a Confirmatory Action Letter to the plant. It documents the actions that will be taken in order to prevent the recent leaks in a water storage tank from causing any health and public safety threats. The NRC says the tank and control room are safe following recent repairs, but they add more action is needed for the agency to be comfortable that the leaks won't affect equipment needed to safely operate and shut down the plant. Palisades recently took the plant off-line for about a month to repair the leaking tank, and it's been back in operation for about a week.
