NRC Currently Confident In Safety Performance At Palisades



The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is confident in the safety performance of Palisades Nuclear Power Plant. Region III Administrator Cynthia Pederson spoke Thursday in South Haven during an open house and public meeting. After adding 1,000 hours in 2012 to the normal 2,000 hours of inspections at the plant, the NRC assesses Palisades has corrected its performance issues.

Though the normal level of inspection is occurring, Pederson says if things change the NRC will enhance it. Currently the Commission is confident in the plant’s safety performance. Pederson says Palisades will continue to receive the detailed inspections used by the NRC at all plants across the country.
