Niles police are looking into a threat involving a gun at Ring Lardner Middle School this week. The mother of a seventh-grade student filed a police report becuase she feels the school did not properly handle the threat made against her son on Tuesday. Several students also are said to have heard one student tell another he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot him, but the mother says no one from the school contacted her. Both police and district officials are investigating. Kellie Bella met with the school's principal and superintendent Thursday morning, and both said it was the first time they had heard of the incident. She kept her son out of school yesterday. The "Niles Daily Star" reports as of yesterday, no disciplinary action had been taken.
