The driver of the semi that slammed into several cars in a construction zone in September on US 12 near New Buffalo has learned his punishment. David Frost of Mendon was sentenced Monday to 270 days in jail after pleading guilty to reckless driving. The 67-year-old will serve his time as part of a year-long probation term, and Judge Charles LaSata will allow him to spend the last 80 days on electronic tether. 75-year-old Harold Redding of Galien was killed in the accident. Frost admitted he ignored the signs that a construction zone was in front of him, and had looked down to see if his grandson was asleep before causing the crash. Five vehicles, including a motorcycle, were involved.
