Mega Millions Winner From Niles Steps Forward

Southwest Michigan's newest millionaire is speaking out. Amy Gourlay of Niles is the winner of $1 million in the Mega Millions from the night when the jackpot hit $648-million earlier this month. Gourlay is a substitute teacher and says she and her husband have no plans to change their lives.

Listen:

Gourlay bought the ticket at Martin's in Niles the night of the drawing. She picked it up during a last-minute run to the grocery store for milk and adds she's happy to no longer have to worry about having money for college for her kids or enough cash for retirement.

Listen:

The jackpot was split by two winning tickets. Gourlay claimed her prize yesterday at Michigan Lottery headquarters and says they kept the win a secret until after Christmas.
