Massive Anti-Human Trafficking Bill Package Coming Before State Senate

A massive package of bills aimed at fighting human trafficking in Michigan is set to be introduced in the state Senate. Senator Judy Emmons of Sheridan unveiled her proposal Monday at the Grand Rapids Catholic Diocese, and said there is a lot of money in human trafficking, and it's a tough battle.

Emmons says part of the bill will help victims, who are currently prosecuted for crimes like prostitution.

The 19-bill package includes a provision to eliminate the statute of limitations on human trafficking. It also calls for a fee to be charged to patrons of strip clubs, with that money going right to the task force to fight the problem.
