MSU Extension Holding Farm Disaster Loan Meeting Next Week

Michigan State University Extension is inviting fruit farmers to learn more about the state's 2012 Agriculture Disaster Loan Program next week in Benton Harbor. A meeting will be held at the Southwest Michigan Research and Extension Center next Thursday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. to give growers the needed information about applying for the loans. MSU Extension fruit specialist Mark Longstroth says money is being made available from the state to help apply for the loans.

Listen:

There will also be information about applying for crop insurance, and understanding the basics of the USDA's Farm Service Agency Emergency Loan Program. The deadline for applying for crop insurance for all fruit crops is coming up on November 20. Longstroth says they need more people to RSVP for next week's meeting, because if they don't have at least ten growers signed up, they'll likely cancel the meeting. To RSVP, contact Berrien County MSU Extension.
