Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford Disappointed By Firing Of Coach Jim Schwartz

New coaches will be on the sidelines for the Detroit Lions in 2014, as the team fired coach Jim Schwartz and most of the offensive coaches on Monday. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was disappointed by the move as he spoke with reporters at his locker.

Just six weeks ago, the Lions were in first place in the NFC North and in control of their own postseason destiny. Then came the stretch run where they lost six of their last seven games to finish 7-9 and in third place. Stafford was asked if Schwartz had lost control of the team.

Does Stafford want to have input on who the next coach will be?

Schwartz inherited a Lions team that was coming off an 0-16 season in 2009 and took the team to the playoffs in 2011. He posted just one winning season in his five years at the helm of the Honolulu Blue and Silver.
