Lakeland Hospital is restricting visitors for the time being due to the prevelance of the flu in the area. You're asked not to visit someone in the hospital if you are currently sick, are younger than 18, or if you're not an immediate family member of somoene hospitalized. Berrien County Health Department epidemiologist Yasi Back says the number of flu cases are on the rise.

She says like most of the country, it's a 2009 strain making people sick.

Health officials urge people who have flu-like symptoms to get treated by their doctor or in the Emergency Department at the hospital. They also add for those who want it, it's not too late to get a flu shot. Health officials note the immunizations reduce the risk of getting the flu by about 90%.
