Lake Township Crash Sends 4 To Hospital

A single car crash last (Monday) night sent 4 area youngsters to the hospital. The accident happend about 5:30 on Jericho Road, south of Shawnee in Lake Township. Police say for some reason the 16 year old driver of the SUV lost control, went off the road and hit a tree. All four in the vehicle had to be extracted with the Jaws of Life. The driver, Beau Maitland of New Buffalo, is recovering in the ICU at Lakeland this morning, Kegan Hart from Bridgman was in surgery at last report. Two other passengers - 7 year old Braden Huffer of New Buffalo and 19 year old Steven Ireland were airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. We do not have a report on their condition at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
