Kate Upton Secures Donation For New Niles HS Football Lights

Kate Upton is helping out Niles High School. The supermodel and St. Joseph native secured a $50,000 grant from the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief fund for new lights at the high school's football field. Her father, Jeff Upton, is the athletic director at Niles and tells the "Niles Daily Star" his daughter came to him and asked what she could do to help the athletic department. The current lights at the stadium date to the 1950s and will be replaced next week. Four poles at the 40-yard line on each side of the field will be removed thanks to the new system, and the new lights will cut electrical costs, decrease light pollution and give fans and players a better view of action on the field. Cantor Fizgerald has previously donated to the Readiness Center in Benton Harbor and Niles Athletics through Kate Upton's volunteer work in 2011 and 2012. Additional donations from Coca-Cola and the Frederick S. Upton Foundation will cover the rest of the costs of the new lights.
