Judge's Ruling Leaves Mayor Hightower Feeling Violated

The Michigan Court of Appeals has not yet decided whether to allow the Benton Harbor recall election to be placed on the November ballot. As he waits, Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower tells WSJM that he feels violated by Judge John Dewane's original ruling verifying the first of double signatures on petitions.

Hightower says the on-going litigation regarding the recall effort against him has been an emotional roller coaster ride.

Berrien County Clerk Sharon Tyler is asking the court of appeals to make a decision by next Monday. If the election is placed on the ballot, Hightower says he won't do much campaigning, but rather continue his work as Mayor and let his resume do the talking.
