Sentencing is set for March 24 for Isaiah Casnave of Benton Harbor on a guilty plea to first degree murder this week. Casnave killed Tenita Broyles last April, and agreed to plead guilty in exchance for a rape charge being dropped. Broyles was the mother of his son, and he allegedly raped her at knifepoint in the days before shooting and killing her. Casnave was found by police hiding in the trunk of a car two days after killiing Broyles. Witnesses testified in a preliminary hearing that Casnave kicked in the door of her home on Madison Avenue, ran up the steps and fired several shots. Broyles had obtained a personal protection order against her ex-boyfriend after they broke up on the grounds that he had threatened to kill her.
