Huizenga Set To Vote On Student Loan Fix

To roll back a doubling of student loan interest rates by tying them to financial market rates, the U.S. House is expected to agree on a Senate bill sometime this week. Zeeland Congressman Bill Huizenga is on board.

The compromise was advocated by President Obama to majority Democrats in the upper chamber. Not everybody in the Michigan Congressional delegation supports the compromise, Senator Debbie Stabenow voted against the White House and her party leaders on the measure. The rate hike for several million federally-backed student loans kicked in on July 1.
