Governor Snyder Calls For More Racial Unity In YouTube Message

Governor Snyder wants to see more racial unity in our state. He took to YouTube from the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit to call on Michigan residents to do more to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the holiday celebrating the work of the slain civil rights leader.

Snyder also took part in an MLK Day luncheon in Lansing hosted by the capital city's MLK Holiday Commission. To date, that organization has handed out nearly $90,000 in scholarships and over $50,000 in grants to community service agencies. Snyder also called for more people to get involved in the "Let's Do Something Michigan" program, which has had more than 5,000 people register online since it launched in June.
