GOP Feeling Heat On Minumum Wage As Bills Introduced In Lansing



A Republican bill is now before the state House to raise the minimum wage from $7.40 to $8.15. State Representative Margaret O'Brien of Portage says they're also addressing people who work on tips.

O'Brien adds a focus needs to be put on helping workers get the education needed for higher-paying jobs.

The bill would eliminate the ballot proposal currently being circulated for petition signatures. That measure is backed by Democrats and labor unions and seeks to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. O'Brien's bill is similar to legislation already before the state Senate.
