The driver and all three passengers from a Lake Township car wreck are still in the hospital. On Monday afternoon, an SUV driven by 16-year old Beau Maitland hit a tree on Jericho Road south of Shawnee Road in Lake Charter Township. Interim Baroda-Lake Township Police Chief Shawn Martin says speed was a factor and the car drifted off the road.
Martin says the driver's sister, who owns the vehicle, did not give permission to her brother to use the SUV. Blood samples obtained from the crash site are being analyzed by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab in Lansing to see if there was any type of intoxicating substance in the drivers blood stream.
