Former Berrien County Parks Director Randy Rood has found a new job as the Executive Director of a South County-area land conservancy. Chikaming Open Lands is an organization that works with land owners and others to preserve pristine pieces of property around in the Galien River Watershed and Southwest Berrien County...and Rood says that his first day with the organization was June 15th, and he's glad to have the opportunity:
Chikaming Land's website says that the Galien Watershed is home to lakes, dunes, white beaches, quiet woodlands and farms, and Rood tells us that since 1999, the organization has helped preserve 850 acres. You can find out more at www.chikamingopenlands.org .
