A former Berrien County resident is among Michigan's recent H1N1 fatalities. 33 year-old John David Prince, of Grand Rapids, died last Thursday from complications related to H1N1 after spending about a week at a Grand Rapids hospital. He had been attending classes at Grand Valley State University, and was hospitalized on October 25th after falling ill. Reports say that he had no underlying medical problems, but had developed an encephalitis-like illness along with the flu. Prior to moving to Chicago and Grand Rapids, Prince had lived in the Three Oaks area, and attended River Valley Schools. His funeral was held this week in Walker.
