We're seeing a lot of flu cases all over Michigan, with Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties being no exception. Dr. Rick Johansen works as the medical director for all three county health departments, and says it's widespread.
Johansen says five people have died in Michigan from influenza so far this season, with three of them being children. None of the deaths were in this corner of the state, and one of the children who died in the Kalamazoo area had other health problems. The top advice from doctors is to get a flu shot and if you get sick, stay home and get better rather than try to be macho and tough it out at work.
