A house along Red Arrow Highway is a total loss after an early morning fire in Hagar Township. The North Berrien Fire Department responded just after 1 a.m. Tuesday to a single story house with attached garage which was completely engulfed. Firefighters knocked the main body of the fire down within 20-minutes, but remained on scene handling hot spots until 5 a.m. Homeowner, Cecilia Gonzalez, left with her husband at 8 p.m. Monday to pick up their daughter from Chicago. They returned home to find crews battling the blaze. No one was injured. Gonzalez' two dogs survived the fire, as they were outside in their kennel. Fire Chief Bob Ruff commended his team for doing such a great job of safely searching the entire house through windows to make sure no one was inside.
