Fatal Accident in Cass County

One person is dead and another injured after a two-car crash Thursday morning in Cass County. Just after 7:00 27-year old Alan Steven of Elkhart, Indiana lost control, due to snow on the roadway, on Redfield Road near Carter Street in Milton Township. Steven slid into an oncoming pickup, driven by 35-year old James Heiermann of Niles. Steven, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Heiermann had minor injuries and was later released. The crash remains under investigation.
