"Erin's Law" is on its way to Governor Snyder for his approval. Co-sponsored by state Senator John Proos, it creates a task force on preventing sexual abuse of children to advise lawmakers and schools on creating a curriculum for schools to address the issue.
Erin Merryn of Illinois is behind the bills, pushing to get similar laws passed nationwide. She is a sexual abuse survivor and spoke to reporters in Berrien County this summer about her quest.
Governor Snyder is expected to sign the bills. Proos says he's hoping to have recommendations in to state lawmakers by 2014.
