We now know the identities of the people involved in a shooting Tuesday morning in Coloma. According to Coloma Township Police, 46-year-old Richard Merchant was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head, while 44-year-old Carey Burgess-Wagnon was shot in the leg. Police found two handguns at the scene along with shell casings and bullets and have determined no one else was involved but the couple. Both guns were registered to her, and the two had been living together in the home in the 100 block of Leedy Street for about a year. The case remains under investigation, and no charges have yet been filed. Burgess-Wagnon remains in Lakeland Regional Hospital in stable condition.
