Developers Withdraw Proposed CVS Pharmacy In St. Joseph

CVS Pharmacy is a no go in St. Joe, for now. Developers withdrew their proposal Thursday night as the St. Joseph Planning Commission was getting ready to vote on their rezoning request.

The proposed site was along Niles and Myrtle Avenues which would have had three entrances, one on Myrtle. Some members of the public were concerned the Myrtle entrance would cause too much traffic along that side-street. Eric Harvey says that entrance would be needed in the final design.

Eric Harvey says he's gone through many corporate channels to try and get the store in St. Joe.

The majority of public comment was against their proposal. But there was a select few that wanted the pharmacy to stay nearby. Dave Carlock would like to see it in Benton Harbor.

The Planning Commission was in the middle of voting to not send a rezoning recommendation to the City Commission when the attorney for the developers stood up and withdrew their proposal.
