Cornerstone Alliance Ready For Area Showcase Through Senior PGA Championship

It's now time for Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, and the surrounding communities to shine in a national and international spotlight with the playing of the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid. Activities begin Tuesday with a pro-am and practice rounds at Harbor Shores, and Cornerstone Alliance President and CEO Vicki Pratt says the community is spiffed up for the cameras.

Listen:

Cornerstone is partnering with American Electric Power for a suite at Harbor Shores to woo new businesses and work to retain and expand existing ones over the next week. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is also going to be set up on the course with a suite, providing the opportunity for those business leaders to hear from both state and local leaders what could be done for their companies. Pratt says for her economic development efforts, it's about getting on the field to compete against other areas.

Pratt says one event generally does not result in a business coming to the community.

Listen:

Tournament play runs Thursday through Sunday in Benton Harbor, with the pro-am set for Tuesday and practice rounds for the world's best senior golfers Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday. WSJM FM 94.9 is the exclusive radio play-by-play home for the Senior PGA this year. Jim Gifford and John Jay will have live coverage from 12 pm to 3 pm Thursday and Friday and from 3 pm to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday.
