Commissioner Seats To File Complaint With EEOC



The Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health budget will be approved next week by the county commission, though it was up for vote at Thursday's meeting. County Administrator Bill Wolf says information recently arose regarding County Commissioner Marletta Seats receiving compensation for her service with SWMBH.

She was to get $17,000 annually. Seats doesn’t understand how a conflict of interest is in play when a legal opinion on the same topic was shared last month regarding other members of the county board.

If Seats has knowledge of something regarding another board member that wasn't disclosed to the full commission, Wolf says she may have a case.

He says it’s not his job to call "conflict of interest," but rather provide available information to the full commission.

She says there are other members on the county board who receive compensation for services with county-backed organizations. Seats plans to file a complaint with the EEOC, because a recent legal opinion cleared those individuals of their affiliations.
