The City of Benton Harbor urges its residents continue running their water to avoid frozen pipes. Despite warmer weather, frost is still affecting water lines below the ground. City crews have been working evenings and weekends to remedy the problem. Its recommended you run the water until April 15 from the facet furthest away from the meter, with a stream the width of a pencil. Billing for the period covered by the running water advisement will end in May. The City asks you to contact the Utility Services Payment Center if you do not have water or know of families that are without it due to frozen pipes. The City thanks customers for their patience, as its battled the problem for months. During the spring, crews plan to revisit locations where frozen pipes have been repaired.
