City Attorney Reviewing Vacancy Interview And Voting Process



Benton Harbor's city attorney is looking into the interview and voting process the city commission recently used to fill a vacancy. City Manager Darwin Watson spoke at Wednesday's Receivership Transition Advisory Board meeting.

Whenever a recommendation is made, Watson says it will be forwarded to the commission along with the RTAB and state. The process is being reviewed because allegations were made last week that certain commissioners didn't fill out their voting ballots properly when interviewing candidates to fill a seat left vacant by former Commissioner David Shaw. Mary Donald was eventually appointed to that seat.
