Candidate For Berrien County Commission Wants Action

A candidate for Berrien County Commissioner is proposing the County take action against illegal immigrants. David Yardley presented a resolution to the Board Thursday. He says the United States is in a state of emergency because illegal immigrants are flooding our southern border.

Yardley proposes Berrien County refuse requests by federal agencies to establish facilities for the purposes of processing, housing, or detaining any illegal aliens.

Yardley is running against Bill Chickering in the August primary for the 5th District, which covers the City of St. Joseph and parts of St. Joseph Township. Board Chairman Jon Hickelman says the Commission will review Yardley's proposal.
