CDBG Public Hearing in Benton Harbor



More funds set aside for seniors and the city youth, that's what the Benton Harbor City Commission wants for future use from the Community Development Block Grant funds. A public hearing took place at Tuesday night's commission meeting, a review of last year's CDBG money and programs it provided were discussed along with the proposed 2013-2014 funds. Commissioner Bowens says CDBG funds can supply unique programs and activities.

Bowens wants to see some type of employment by the city of city youth to clean up parks and public areas.

The Commission discussed the funds and heard public comment, all ideas and suggestions will be forwarded to Emergency Financial Manager Tony Saunders, who ultimately has final say on what funds go where.
