The Berrien County Board of Commissioners is now whole again, as it unanimously voted on Thursday night to appoint Teri Freehling, of Baroda, to serve as the new commissioner for the 8th District. She was one of two candidates interviewed, and said that she plans to work on the board to move Berrien County forward:

Freehling runs a farm with her husband, and has two daughters. She’s lived in Berrien County, and in the Baroda area, her entire life. At Thursday’s meeting, board members said that it was a tough choice between her and Larry Martin because they both made great candidates. Commissioner Mac Elliot even said he wished there was some way they could both serve, in alternating weeks. Freehling now takes the board position left vacant with the passing of Commissioner Neal Nitz last month.
