Berrien Alcohol Taskforce Looks Back At Two Years Of Success



Representatives of the Berrien County Alcohol Taskforce says that it's been a successful two years since the program first launched. As BCAT prepares to look back on its first couple years during a presentation later this month, Coordinator Nate Hill says that it's got some positive news to consider. Its main efforts to prevent deaths caused by alcohol have been successful:

Secondly, underage decoy operations at Berrien County liquor stores have shown a high rate of alcohol law compliance:

BCAT has also partnered with the Designated Youth Tobacco Use Representative to train over 100 employees in the importance, and how to, of checking IDs before selling alcohol or tobacco. The taskforce will be holding its monthly meeting on November 19th to go over some numbers, and talk about what to do going forward. Hill says that BCAT has been able to forge partnerships with area law enforcement agencies, and others, that just could make it possible to continue functioning, even if state funding is seriously cut:
