Bangor Township Crash

A man is in critical condition today after a crash in Bangor Township. Tuesday afternoon, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department started to investigate an accident involving a van and a motorcycle. It was found that 44-year old Mark Watkins of Covert stopped at a stop sign on 48th Avenue then proceeded into the intersection west bound. Watkins did not see 62-year old Charles Meachum of Bangor on his Yamaha motorcycle heading south on County Road 687. After the collision, Meachum sustained multiple broken bones, at the scene his left leg had to be amputated below the knee. Driver of the van, Watkins, did not suffered injuries, the crash is still under investigation.
