Band Parents Saddened After March Through Benton Harbor

Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey wants to get to the bottom of what happened in Benton Harbor along the Blossomtime Grand Floral Parade route.

That's Jackie King, Benton Harbor High School band parent president. She asked the City Commission this week where crowd control was during the Blossomtime Grand Floral Parade last weekend. King said the students in the band, while marching through Benton Harbor, became overwhelmed.

Sheriff Paul Bailey says his department works with City police to oversee the parade.

Bailey wants to get in contact with band officials and those knocked to the ground to find out who caused the disturbance. He says they'll make sure to have a bigger presence next year around the band, also along Main Street in Benton Harbor.
