Andrews University will hand out three MLK Legacy of Freedom Awards this week as part of its celebration of King Day. Elaine Chaudior of Berrien Springs will receive the first award on Thursday for her work as a volunteer with Berrien Springs Public Schools and Lakeland Healthcare. On Saturday, two more will be given to local business owners James and Gloria Hippler. The awards were instituted in 2006 to honor people or organizations who offer the best examples of Dr. Martin Luther King's values of civility and equality. King Day is coming up next Monday.
