A recent Andrews University grad has won a national architecture competition. Monique Reid, who graduated from Andrews last month with a Masters in architecture, won first prize in the "House of Freedom" National Student Design Competition. Co-sponsored by the AARP, the contest focused on Universal Design, which Reid says is all about creating homes that could be usable by all people, regardless of age or disability. She also considered other principles for her first-place home design:
She said she was told about the competition by one of her professors, and the university has been enthusiastic and supportive since finding out that she won.
