A New Concept for The Berrien Community Foundation

The Berrien Community Foundation has plans to help feed over 15-thousand county residents next year. The foundation has announced it will fund at least 26-mobile food pantries in 2013, for areas with the greatest need. Foundation President Nanette Keiser says the mobile units will show up to a community gathering place like a church or school during the week to distribute food.

The foundation is coordinating its efforts with the Pokagon Fund, which provides similar mobile services. Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank's branch office in Berrien County will provide all the services for the pantries. Funding for this project is provided by donors and the Berrien Community Endowment.
