A fired Coloma Township cop is trying to get his job back. Officer Michael Prince had been with the department for 26-years when his employment was terminated the first week of January. It was believed Prince had falsified a probation document for a man who was to perform Preliminary Breath Tests. After an investigation Berrien County Prosecutor Art Cotter charged Prince with Willful Neglect of Duty by a Public Official. The misdemeanor could put Prince in jail for a year. Coloma Township Police Chief Randel Pompey says by contract Prince can ask an outside arbitrator to review the facts then determine whether or not his punishment was to harsh.
