Blossomtime Parade Saturday

Coming up this Saturday is the big Blossomtime Parade through St. Joseph and Benton Harbor. Parade President Anna Abdelnour tells us the event attracts as many as 200,000 people to the area each year. She expects this Saturday will be a whole heap of fun.

“This year’s parade has some outstanding units,” Abbdelnour said. “It’s going to be a wonderful weather day, and hopefully, people from all over southwest Michigan will come out and support the Blossomtime Festival.”

The parade will start at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph. It will go down Main Street and then across the bridge into Benton Harbor. Abdelnour tells us the grand marshal is Jim McCloughan, a Medal of Honor recipient from South Haven. You can start to put out your blankets and chairs at 6:00 a.m. Saturday. The streets will be blocked off starting at 10 a.m. and detours will be in effect through about 3:30 p.m. You can find out more about the parade right here.
