School District Putting Together Citizen Advisory Commitee

Following a discussion last week at a community meeting about student discipline and safety, Benton Harbor Area School Trustees heard Tuesday the creation of a Citizens’ Advisory Committee will be placed on their agenda for next week. The talk has been about improving student behavior and ensuring the schools are a safe learning environment following recent fights. School Board President Marletta Seats said at Tuesday’s work session it’s time to bring in other minds.

“I do think it would be an asset to this district that  we do have an advisory committee that gives us input and has a different view on things and bring us a different perspective of what we don’t see,” Seats said.

Seats said there needs to be talks about safety, policy, and budgeting. She’ll have more concrete proposals at next Tuesday’s meeting to get citizens involved.
