West Michigan’s contribution to the war effort during World War II will be the topic of discussion at a presentation at the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven this week. The museum’s Ashley Deming tells WSJM News they’ll have a guest from the Joint Archives of Holland on hand to talk about the ships made for the military right there in Holland.

“This is all a really exciting lecture series that we’re able to promote and focus right in on World War I, which is a fascinating time period,” Deming said. “So often, we forget what was going on right there on the home front.”

Deming tells us the Michigan Maritime Museum will continue to focus on west Michigan’s role in World War II with additional presentations throughout the next several months. Tickets to Wednesday’s presentation, “On the Ways to Victory: Building Boats for World War II in Holland, Michigan,” will be $8. The talk will start at 6:30 p.m.
