Bridgman’s Getaway Hopping This Week

If you’re looking for a hopping place to hang out for a World Series game, you might want to consider the Getaway in Bridgman. The Chicago Cubs-themed bar and grill has been a favored haunt of Cubs fans since 1983, and for the first time, they actually get to see their team in the World Series. Owner Tom Ackerman tells WSJM News the vibe is incredible.

“It’s been wonderful” Ackerman said. “It’s been a lot of fun. It’s just been kind of surreal. It’s just nice to see all the Cubs fans coming out and being so happy when we clinched the pennant, and there were just a lot of people crying.”

Ackerman says the place has been packed for weeks each night when the Cubs take the field. Some folks can’t even get in.

“It’s a good idea to call ahead, just in case, but usually there are people that move, and people don’t have to stand for very long.”

Ackerman tells us Cubs fans from Chicago, Kalamazoo, and Indiana can be found at the Getaway this week. You can bet the place will be packed Friday night when the World Series goes to Chi Town for game three.
