BH Schools To Apply To Join The BCS Conference

Benton Harbor School athletic teams could join the BCS conference next year. At Tuesday’s school board meeting, a plan to apply to join BCS was approved. Trustee Joseph Taylor thinks it will be a good fit.

“It’s well overdue,” Taylor told WSJM News. “You have to get in where you fit in, so to speak, and so by being a smaller B, we wanted to make sure that we could remain more competitive than we have been in the past.”

The BCS conference includes districts like Berrien Springs, Bridgman, New Buffalo, and Lake Michigan Catholic and Michigan Lutheran. The school board voted to leave the SMAC conference last year, and Taylor says it’s operating independently this year.
