A spokeswoman for Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says his office looks forward to prosecuting former state Representative Todd Courser. A Lansing judge dismissed a pair of charges against the Lapeer Republican yesterday, but ordered him to stand trial on two other charges. Courser was somewhat pleased.

“We’re glad those two (charges) are gone. I’m happy for that. It’s been a long road,” Courser told reporters after his hearing yesterday. Gamrat was asked how she was holding up by members of the state Capitol press corps.

“I have a lot of mixed emotions,” said the Plainwell Republican after the charges were dropped against her for a lack of evidence. “It’s been a really hard journey.” Her attorney wouldn’t allow any other questions to be answered.

Courser has admitted to writing a false email that was sent as a ruse to hide his extramarital affair with Gamrat. She was expelled by the Michigan House in September. Courser resigned rather than be kicked out.
