A town hall meeting is planned for next week in South Haven for residents of Van Buren County to talk with NRC officials about the Palisades nuclear power plant. NRC spokesperson Viktoria Mitlyng says it’s the yearly plant performance meeting where the public can hear about the last year, and ask questions.
“It’s geared toward telling the people about how the NRC has assessed the performance of the Palisades plant, but also provide details on the actions the agency has taken in relation to Palisades in the past year,” Mitlyng told WSJM.
Mitlyng says the town halls typically attract a few hundred people. The meeting will be next Thursday at the Beach Haven Event Center on M-140. It will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mitlyng says it will start with an open house from 5 to 6. Then, there will be a short presentation, followed by the town hall.
