A 5K will be held in South Haven next week to raise money for Maple Grove Elementary. It’s the 2nd annual Step into Summer 5K Trail Run and Kids Dash, which will be held at Van Buren State Park. Run Director Stacy Maxwell says it’s the route that makes this run special.
“It takes you out into the sand dune and the trails along Lake Michigan, and then actually down the sand dune to the beach, and then back up to the finish line,” Maxwell told WSJM. “We give all of our kids finish medals, no matter where they finish. T-shirts are provided for all our participants.”
Anyone can take part in the 5K, and there will be a shorter dash for the kids ten and under. You can sign up for next Saturday’s event at RunSignUp.com, and you can find out more at the event’s Facebook page.
