MDOT Lifting Traffic Restrictions For Memorial Day Weekend

With a record number of travelers expected to hit the road in Michigan this Memorial Day weekend, the Michigan Department of Transportation is lifting traffic restrictions wherever it can to make things go smoothly. MDOT spokesperson Nick Schirripa says they’ll only leave lane in place where they can’t be avoided.

“We’ve got a number of projects in our southwest region, two over in Berrien County that will still have some restrictions over weekend, but for the most part, we’re ready to go,” Schirripa told WSJM.

In Berrien County, there will still be restrictions in place on I-94 between Stevensville and Bridgman, where one lane is closed due to ongoing work. Also, US-31 has one northbound lane closed over the St. Joseph River between Niles Buchanan Road and Walton Road. Schirripa says construction will shut down Friday evening, and start back up again Tuesday morning.
