Home sales in southwest Michigan continue to show improvement. The Southwest Michigan Association of Realtors says sales were up in the month of April by ten percent, compared to April of 2015. Also, year-to-date, local housing market sales were ahead, as of April, by 11 percent over last year. The regional housing market has seen monthly increases each month since February. The association of realtors says the average sale price this April was also about the same as in April of last year, at $186,000. Overall, it notes the regional housing market is similar to how it was during its peak years of 2006 and 2007. The association says mortgage rates at a three-year low have helped to keep sales strong, although there is growing concern buyers will start to have trouble finding affordable homes if wages don’t rise and if price growth doesn’t slow.
